Vagabond’s path

As vagabonds have communicated with each other leaving marks to their environment, the children of the primary school of Jokikylä bring a message to the visitors of the biennale creating environmental artworks as signs along the way from the school to the art centre, including the busy E4 road and Merihelmi travel centre.

Prepared in the spring season 2010, the children’s culture project combines different aspects of environmental art from snow and ice sculptures to installation art and arte povera. The project is directed by the home artists of the centre: Helena Kaikkonen, Sanna Koivisto, Janne Nyyssönen and Antti Ylönen in co-operation with the mother of the idea, Karoliina Niemelä, and supported by the Arts Council of Finland.
